Whisk yolk, sugar together in a bowl until sugar dissolves.
Add cornstarch and whisk anain the mixture
Cook milk until simmering. Add if you want flower like Vanilla or lemon peel. Remove it from heat before it comes to a boil.
Pour in egg mixture in the milk. Set saucepan back over low heat whisking constantly, until custard thickens
